Adoption is legally making a child your own. The adoption process in Israel can be lengthy, with an average waiting period of five years, and the stipulations set forth by Adoption Law can be difficult to meet. But, when all requirements are met, adoption does occur and creates beautiful forever-families.

A couple that applies for adoption must undergo an extensive screening process with Child Services (שירות למען הילד). If approved, the family waits for a child to match their family profile, as determined by Child Services, and the official adoption order is granted by the Family Court.
